Our Impact
Plastic Pollution:
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste are released into nature yearly, contaminating oceans, lakes, rivers, lands, animals, and humans.
Addressing this issue requires urgent collective action. As a global community, we have the power to make a difference. If we don't act now, by 2050, the ocean's plastic weight could surpass that of fish. (Ellen MacArthur Foundation paper of 2016).
Let's change it together! Recycle with us!
Here's how we transform what we collect:
Plastic Bottles:
The lids and rings are upcycled into new products at our local El Astillero, Tola factory. The remaining bottles are baled with our partner in Managua and exported, mainly to Honduras and the USA, to make new bottles.
Cans:
Cans are baled with our partner and exported internationally to be fully recycled.
Glass:
We sort and crush the glass in bags at our local facility El Astillero, Tola, then export it with our partner to Costa Rica to make new bottles.
All exports are made through land.
Buy Food with Plastic - Community Events in Tola
By collecting plastic bottles, cans, and glass from your establishment, we not only help you manage your waste but also hold community events. These events provide hot meals to the local community, with the food being exchanged for plastic bottles. This recycling process not only benefits the environment but also creates new products, contributing to a more sustainable future for our community.Â
Through our events, we promote environmental education and foster job creation. This dual approach benefits our environment and community, offering a brighter and more sustainable future for all!
